About HATHORS
« Seems that art is history
brainwash through the tv »
- Do you guys live out of your music ?
- No man… but we live for music !
And then, the majesty of her body opened their eyes to the reality of desire… like if dual feelings could emanate from her… oscillating between violence and sweetness, between innocence and vice, between seduction and mystery… she’s the music goddess and they gave her their allegiance…
It was sometimes in the 90’s, the last decade of a weird century. They were kids full of acne and like many children of the occidental lost generation, their lives changed when they’ve heard « Smells like teen spirit » for the first time. Kurt modified so many perceptions while he was blurring his own. As if Nirvana was representing the origin of this new world penetrating their ears and opening their eyes. It wasn’t about a potential « in the beginning it was Nirvana », because music is a polytheist religion… because music is older than any belief, than any civilisation or society… there is no beginning, and Nirvana was their « door of perception ». Their gate to a much bigger, wider, infinite world of pleasant feelings. It could have been another path through a different door… it would have been the same process… Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, L7, Alice in Chains, Pj Harvey, Nine Inch Nails, Gutter Twins, The Melvins, Hole, The Gun Club, Kyuss, Black Flag, Refused… so many new acoustic climax to experiment… music is an immaterial sexuality… but where does it emanate from ? From chemistry, feelings, ideas, energy…? this is all about a chemical issue… about an electrical extension of the body. Words seem to be pale areas of silence towards the sound’s power…
Like drunken archeologists, they digged through the forgotten civilizations and faith until they met Hathor in the ancient Egyptian mythology. And then, the majesty of her body opened their eyes to the reality of desire… she attracted them in her circle of ambivalent waves… as if dual feelings could emanate from her… oscillating between violence and sweetness, between innocence and vice, between seduction and mystery… She’s the Egyptian music goddess and three guys from Winterthur gave her their allegiance… They became Hathors !

Since then, they’re building invisible sonic bridges between furious sensibility and sensible fury. Integrating slowly their influences to construct their own shape of the eternal muse… From a very grungy, stoner rock debut album paying a fantastic tribute to the Seattle area to their devastating live shows, we could feel a strong musical identity constructing itself. Mad animals ! Wild monsters ! Three lost children of the twenty first century’s joke celebrating the ancient trances in a desperate and melancholic way ! Music is an answer to oblivion ! Music is an immaterial sexuality ! Music is a polytheist religion !
We need music more than ever to connect ourselves to older knowledges, forgotten civilizations and alternative representations of reality. Our society produces an constant amnesia, creates fake desires, useless possessions and illusionary freedom. But when there is political failure, lack of identity, when the demons of History crawl out of the abysses, there is a new idea of resistance emerging. Staggering punks and stray dogs have always been haunting societies…
Hathors sounds like a dialogue between the reptilian brain of humanity and something we haven’t named yet… A very powerful music with remnants of punk and no-wave anger that can suddenly slow down and turn into dark layers of ambivalent sensations. Sometimes it’s the other way around, you never know which it goes and how to interpret.
Every song contains carnal traces…
Every song is an organic reminder engraved somewhere in the body…
Music is a chemical issue !
Music is the reality of desire !
